Satan Hates God - Day 5

For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.” Psalms 95:3-4

The moment we start thinking we can do what we want without the Lord, when we want, how we want, with whom we want, we get into trouble. Self-sufficiency is pride, the way of Satan and not of God. 2 Corinthians 3:5 says, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God…” Sadly, Lucifer turned his eyes off of his all-sufficient God and believed his own lie, the lie of his self-sufficiency. He destroyed himself with his pride.

The enemy of our soul and of our very lives, is Satan. Satan opposes God in all He does and is God’s great enemy. One way he opposes God is by attacking mankind whom God made in His image. Satan would not leave Adam and Eve in their wonderful world of peace and innocence. Satan hates God and wants to destroy mankind who is loved by God.

As Lucifer, he, along with all God’s angels, witnessed God create Adam and Eve. Lucifer saw how God made the special garden in Eden and put the first couple there. He was a witness to God creating everything the first man and woman would need. Lucifer and all God’s angels were there and they witnessed and worshipped and glorified God through all these events. Lucifer also heard God’s warning to Adam of the consequences of eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

But Satan, in his great driving hatred for God, set out to do anything he possibly could to do anything he possibly could to murder Adam and Eve. Genesis 3:1 says, “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” Who is the serpent? Revelation 12:9 says, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan…” Yes, Satan disguised himself as a serpent. Why? To deceive Eve. He still comes and works in deceptive ways today. If he came to us and appeared as he really is, he would frighten us away. So, he lies, deceives, and speaks in ways that cast doubt on God’s Word. Whenever you think or hear anything that causes you to question God’s Word, you should know right away, that it is a lie of the devil.

“Thank you, Father, for revealing to me that Satan is a liar and deceiver. Keep me fully trusting you and never doubt. Amen.”
