Starry Nights - Day 2

"Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely...He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names." Psalm 147:1,4

God is perfect in all His ways, the greatest and highest authority, and most worthy of all our praise! Our God reigns sovereign over all of His creation. Not only did God create the sun, moon, and stars, He placed them right where He wanted them. Genesis 1:17 says, “And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth.” I am in wonder thinking about God setting those heavenly bodies, those brilliant heavenly lights, right where He intended, in their respective places. God is of vastly different substance than we are. We are creatures, created by God. God is spirit and of higher and better quality than anything we can imagine. It is difficult to think or imagine what God is like. In fact, whatever I can imagine about God, I know it is wrong. I can only think or imagine in terms of what I know, this present creation. But God’s existence is of a different kind altogether.

What we can know about God is what He has revealed to us in the Bible about Himself. God reveals Himself in Scripture by what He says, backed up by what He does. God tells us that He is everywhere at the same time. He tells us that He created time, so that means He is transcends the passage of time; He is eternal. We cannot think of God as having any size, for that would be applying a creature concept to Him. What do we know? He created all the heavenly lights and placed them right where He wanted them, and they display His glory. Genesis 1:18-19 says, “…and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.” God pronounced that the sun, moon, and stars were good! No faults, no flaws, no failings, just right, perfect! These lights were doing exactly what God created them to do from the moment they were created; “to give light upon the Earth”.

Some ask, “How can these distant stars give their light on the Earth the moment they were created if they are billions of light years away?” Well, if God is who He says He is, perfect in power and wisdom - and so much more - and He created the such a universe, then He is more than able to create all the heavenly lights to give their light upon the earth the moment He created them. After all, He told us He created them to give light upon the Earth. He is the only uncreated, unlimited, unbounded, almighty God. Nothing is impossible with God. He made all things good.

“Thank you, Father, for revealing to me so many wonderful things about who You are. Amen.”
