Nothing is Too Hard - Day 6

"Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:" Jeremiah 32:17

Here on day six God begins by creating all the mammals. God speaks, and they are created! Genesis 1:24-25 says, "And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good." I can even hear the emotion in Jeremiah in the opening verse, when he says in joyful worship, “Ah Lord God! Behold!” Nothing is impossible with God. “Let the earth bring forth…” means that God formed the animals using the earth, the dust and dirt which contain all the elements found in all life (Genesis 2:19). Again, God said He created, “After its kind…” or according to their kind. God repeats this phrase in Genesis a total of ten times. The Lord wants us to clearly understand that He created with order and design.

The word “cattle”, means livestock. They are a group of domestic livestock God designed for use by people for their agricultural utility. These would include horses, goats, sheep, camels, oxen, and cows. God created each kind to only be able to reproduce after their own kind. The horse kind would include all the great variety of species we see today, i.e. donkeys, mules, and even zebras. The great variety and diversity of sizes, colors, markings, shapes, and sounds that God created in the animal world all reflect the Glory of God.

The Land dinosaurs were also created on day six of creation. I find it fascinating to find out about the three groups of creatures He created on day six: cattle (livestock), the creeping things, and the beasts of the earth. The cattle were domesticated. The creeping things would include reptiles, such as lizards, frogs, and snakes. Then the beasts would include the larger animals such as dogs (wolves, coyotes, hyenas), cats (lynx, bobcats, lion, tigers), bears, elephants, rhinos and dinosaurs. It is difficult to imagine how God could say that every creeping thing could be good. But let’s remember who God is. Everything He created in the beginning was perfect. God, being perfect, can only create with perfection. That is who God is! Ah Lord God, behold!

“Thank you, Father, for the wonderful, perfectly created world you made for me at the beginning. Let these words, “Ah Lord God! Behold!” be ever on my lips when I worship you. Amen.”
