God’s Perfect Food - Day 6

“Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.” Isaiah 45:11-12

Of all God’s creation, man is the only one said to be made in God’s image. The great work of God, all creation of God we call nature, set the stage for His greatest work, mankind. They are, in God’s created order, totally unique. That is clearly evident, for the focus of all that God has done is squarely on mankind. Genesis 1:26 says, “And God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion’…” Mankind was created to be God’s representative on earth, to steward, manage and cultivate the great works of God.

This brings us to Genesis 1:29-30, which says, “And God said, ‘Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat’: and it was so.” The significance of these verses is easily overlooked. They are very important and of huge consequence. God commanded all living creatures, both human and animal, to eat only plants. At this time all of us were herbivores and vegetarians.

Also, at this point of time on day six of creation, everything was perfect. There are no weeds, thorns or thistles. No toxic poisons. All is perfect. And because there is no sin, there is no fear, suffering, pain or death. All humans and animals lived together in harmony. I know it can be difficult to fathom a perfect environment given the world we live in today. But that is exactly the way God created things. His creation is based on who He is. God provided everything for mankind’s existence on earth. Adam and Eve were given all they would need to live, thrive, multiply, and spread out over all the earth in obedience to God’s command. No bloodshed, no animals eating each other, no butchering, and there is no sickness or disease either. What a great and wonderful God who did this for us! Let us always remember, God is perfect in all His ways, the greatest and highest authority, and most worthy of all our praise! All He does is good.

“Thank you, Father, for revealing to me a glimpse of heaven. You are an awesome God! Amen.”
