Man’s Purpose - Day 1

“Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22

We serve a loving Father who knows each of us better than we know ourselves, and He loves us anyway. Everyone is His creation, and He knows every aspect of what He made. God planned out everything we would need before He created anything. So, when God made Adam, his needs were all provided for by God out of His loving kindness.

We previously learned that on day 6 God made Adam and Eve that same day. In Genesis 2:7 we were given the details of how God made Adam. At this point Eve was not yet made. Let’s consider the reason Eve was made. Genesis 2:18 says, “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” It is vitally important to know that it is God who said it was not good for Adam to be alone. God made Adam for a purpose, and it was impossible for him to fulfill that purpose if he remained alone. God knows best. He chose to make Eve for Adam. What a wonderful gift!

The word “helpmeet” means a complimentary helper. Someone suitably created for Adam so he could reach the full potential for which God created him. Out of God’s great love for Adam, He created Eve. Only then could Adam and Eve experience what it means to live in a joyful, loving, secure, healthy, relationship with another human being. Again, what wonderful gift!

What was God’s purpose for Adam and Eve? Let’s read Genesis 1:28 again;  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, ‘Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.’ ” Adam could never accomplish this assignment alone. And God knew exactly what to do. He provided Eve to Adam, which was His plan before He created anything. Man can only be content and happy when doing what God ordained for him.

Thank you, Father, for your perfect provision for all that I need. Teach me to trust you for my needs. You know better than I do what I need. Amen.”
