Dry Land & Seas - Day 5

"O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches." Psalm 104:24

On this day three of all creation God displays His mighty power yet again. Genesis 1:9 starts with those three power-packed words, “And God said…”. God called the dry land into existence from out of the waters that covered the entire earth. Let’s not overlook this first act of God on day three. Day two left us with a water-covered planet earth. Above the water was the firmament, which is the sky or atmosphere, and above that was the water vapor canopy, a layer of water all around the earth.

Now, in Genesis 1:9, God clearly says that He brought up out of the water the dry land; “And God said, ‘Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear’; and it was so.”. No doubt about it! God spoke and it was done. Wow! No wonder the angels sang His praises as they witnessed God doing His creative work. And as I read the words in the Bible I want to burst into songs of praise to God myself, and I do! As in Isaiah 52:9, I “break forth into joy, sing together…” .

God, by His powerful word, gathered the waters together and made the dry land appear. Genesis 1:10 says, “And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas..." . God named both the dry land and the bodies of water. They did not just happen. God gave shape and form to His creation just as He planned. He put the land, the Earth, right where He decided it should be. In verse 10, after God named the dry land, it says “and the gathering together of the waters…” speaks of a deliberate act of God. God’s creation, God’s plan, God’s design. Genesis 1:10 ends with “…and God saw that it was good.” All God does is based on who God is. All He does is good because He is good! That means God is perfect in all His ways, the greatest and highest authority, and most worthy of all our praise! Creating dry land and gathering the waters together into Seas was the first act of the third day of all His creation.

“Thank you, Father, for your great love and wonderful creation. Amen”
