Divinely Inspired - Day 5

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

The Bible is the Word of God. The words in the Bible are the very Words of God. When you read any Scripture text you are reading the very words of God. God is speaking to you when you read the Bible. The Bible doesn’t just contain the Words of God, as though some of it is inspired and parts of it are not. If that were the case, how would we know what parts are the inspired parts and which parts are not? How could we possibly trust any of the Bible? But that is the position from many who argue that the Bible “contains” the Word of God. They can then decide for themselves what to believe, and what not to believe.

But God’s own Word, the very Bible, tells us that all the words in the Bible are God’s very Words. They are given to us by God Himself as stated in our opening Scripture. How did God give us His Word? He chose men to write down His Words. He spoke to them through His Holy Spirit. God could have written the Bible himself), and then given everyone a copy. But He didn’t do that. God chose men who He called prophets and apostles, to write His Word. He used at least 40 men over a period of 1,600 years to write the different parts of the Bible. Think on that! Only God could do that! Over such a long period of time, with so many different men, from different cultures and perspectives, and make it all fit together into a who unified testimony of Himself. Only God!

The Bible is not the ideas of men. 2 Peter 1:20-21 says, Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” The Bible is God’s personal witness to us and all people. God may have used men to write down His Word, but they are not the authors of the Bible. God is the one and only author of the Bible. This explains the Unity of the Bible, one Author and that Author is God. The Bible is God’s message to the whole world. He wants us to know Him. He wants the whole world to know Him. Psalm 46:10 says “ Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Bible is the very Breath of God, speaking the very Word of God, kept by the very Spirit of God, forever!

“Thank You, Father, for the Bible. Thank You for revealing to me that You are it’s author. Amen”
