All Powerful - Day 7

"Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; thou art great, and thy name is great in might." Jeremiah 10:6

"He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion." Jeremiah 10:12

God is perfect in all His ways, the greatest and highest authority, and most worthy of all our praise! God is sovereign. That is the word used to describe God’s unlimited, never-ending, complete control over everything. God is blameless, complete, and perfect. There is no power greater than God. When you think of all the unlimited power in the universe, that is God! Everything is subject to God’s power and authority, and sovereign rule. To control everything takes enormous power. To rule over everything takes supreme authority. That is the sovereignty of God. That includes all people, all spirit beings (angels), all powers, and every created thing - that is, everything besides God. He alone is sovereign. God is unique. Nothing compares with Him. He is higher and greater and far beyond our ability to understand Him.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9

Since God created all things, that means he was there before anything existed. And think about it, God created everything and sustains everything by His great power. Everything depends on God. Because He is all powerful, there is nothing that is too hard for Him to do. Read Jeremiah 32:17, 27 and Luke 1:37. Not only is nothing too hard for Him to do, nothing is easy either. (I love this!) The concept of “hard” and “easy” does not apply to God. They apply to us. They apply to His created beings. Although it seems contradictory, there are things God can not do. How can He be all powerful and yet unable to do something?Titus 1:2 and Hebrews 6:18 say God can not lie. 2 Timothy 2:13 says it is impossible for God to deny Himself. James 1:13 says God cannot be tempted with evil. God cannot sin. God cannot do something contrary to His character. God cannot cease to exist. God will always exist because He is eternal. That is why it is incorrect to say can do anything. But He can do anything He wills to do.

God will be glorified in everything He does, and He is perfect in all His ways. Nothing constrains God. Nothing outside of God compels Him to act a certain way. God dictates what is, and how it is. Since God alone is eternal then God was the only one who was there before anythin that was created. So He is the only one who can tell us what took place in the beginning. And since God is perfect, we can trust Him to tell us the truth about the creation of all things. God asks, "Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding." Job 38:4

“Thank you, Father, for being who you are, perfect and all-powerful sovereign. My hope is in you. What joyful hope, too! Knowing who you are gives me confidence that I have an eternal hope…you! Amen”
