Eternally Perfect - Day 7

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8

The Bible is truth. Put the Truth to the test, and it will always come through alive and well. Time is a good test for any truth, and God’s truth never fails the test of time, and eternity is a long, long time. God’s Word, the Bible, is the Truth because it’s written by the One who is the Truth. God is perfect in all His ways, the greatest and highest authority, and most worthy of all our praise!

God, being perfect, does not, nor cannot change. He even tells us in the Bible he doesn’t change. Malachi 3:16 says, “For I am the Lord, I change not.” So, if God cannot change because He is perfect, then we can be assured that, because He is the Author of the Bible, the Bible cannot change either. A.W. Tozer said this about our Perfect Unchanging God,

“God is immutable (unchangeable). He has never changed and can never change in the smallest measure. To change, He would need to go from better to worse, or from worse to better. He cannot do either, for being perfect, He cannot be more perfect, and if He were to become less perfect, He would be less than God.”

Any god that is not perfect is no god at all, and we should have nothing to with him. Books written by men are constantly being changed and updated, and replaced, as old ideas give way to new ones. The Bible never has to be changed or updated because its author is the Perfect One Who Never Changes. Archaeologists confirm Biblical passages by their discoveries. Historians validate Biblical accuracy by the historical record. Non-Biblical historical documents support many aspects of Scripture. Place names in the Bible along with numerous cultural, ethnic, and tribal groups are still with us today. This further serves to reinforce Scripture’s authority and accuracy. By contrast, many science texts and reference books written by men are constantly being updated and revised.

People have written many books that tell us about God. The Bible is God Himself telling us exactly what He wants us to know about who He is. God reveals Himself in Scripture by what He says and backs it up by what He does. So, as we read the Bible, we do not “discover” truths about God, but God is revealing His truths about Himself to us. His revelation to us brings us into a wonderful love relationship with Himself so we can truly know Him. Let’s open the Bible and get to know God. The Bible is the absolute most important book of all time. Dive into its depths and meet the great and Holy, Perfect and Unchanging, God who loves you.

“Thank you, Father, for loving me so much that You have given me Your Bible so I can get to know and love You. Give me a hunger and thirst that can only be satisfied with You. Amen.”
