The Completed Work - Day 1

“I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” Psalm 138:2

What an awesome God! In just six days He created everything. Genesis 2:1 says, “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.” God completed what He had set out to make. Praise God, He always finishes what He starts. When He starts a work, He will finish it. And that is wonderful news for us too. We can be assured that God will never give up on us. Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this very thing, that He which began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” God does all things right, the first time. He never has to go back and fix His mistakes. God does not change. Malachi 3:6 says, “For I am the Lord, I change not.” Isaiah 46:9-11 says, “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: ...yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.” That is who God is. He always does. God is perfect in all His ways, the greatest and highest authority, and most worthy of all our praise! Oh, the knowledge and wisdom of God to create such a beautiful place.

Not only did God create it all, He sustains all He has created. Our God is a faithful God. He reveals to us, by what He created, that He is dependable, that He never changes, and He always completes everything He starts. Have you ever started a project and never completed it? I know I have. And there may be good reason for it. We lose interest, change our minds, or it gets too complicated, and we decide to give up. Not so with God. God is perfectly faithful, and we can trust him to finish everything He starts. Why is that important to know? Because you and I are His work in progress. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Since God always finishes His work, we know that we can depend on Him to finish His work to conform us into the image of Jesus Christ. (See Romans 8:29)

“Thank you, Father, for being our loving, faithful, dependable, never changing God! Amen.”
